Adopt a panda to help protect their future

A panda adoption helps us:

  • work with locals to improve population monitoring to help guide conservation efforts
  • help isolated panda populations reconnect and find food and a mate more freely through wildlife corridors
  • work to promote alternative sustainable livelihoods for locals, protecting panda habitats

Giant pandas and their forest home need protecting. Please join our fight to bring our world back to life, before it's too late.

Benefits of adopting as a gift

A WWF panda adoption is the perfect hassle-free gift for friends or family with a passion for wildlife and making a difference.

Sustainable gift - make your impact go further

Gift packaging is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified and uses 100% recycled materials. No plastic is used in our gift packaging and it can be fully recycled.

Our adoption toys are made to the Blue Angel standard. This independent ecolabel certification means these soft toys have a lower environmental impact and higher protection for human health, for example protecting workers rights, compared to other soft toys. If you would like to make your support go further, in checkout you can choose to not send the toy in your recipient. Although we have worked hard to reduce the footprint of our toys, they still have an impact on the environment, so choosing not to receive a toy is the most environmentally-friendly option and your loved one will still receive a welcome pack and regular updates.

Convenient and pressure-free gifts

Order online and your gift recipient will be sent a welcome pack directly to their door. If you need a last-minute gift, you'll receive a personalised Panda gift certificate to give to your loved one while waiting for the pack to arrive.

You can also browse other species to adopt as a gift.

Impact

Our panda adoptions are more than a cuddly toy, they’re helping protect wildlife and their habitats. In 1980 we became the first international conservation organisation invited to work in China – and we’ve been working with the Chinese government to help protect giant pandas ever since. This includes helping to designate and set up protected areas to keep more panda habitat intact. Your gift will support our work with local communities to help them use their natural resources more sustainably, and encourage alternative livelihoods such as bee-keeping – things that don’t negatively impact on the panda’s habitat.

Panda adoption gift FAQs

Panda adoptions help us restore panda habitats, increase the area of habitat under legal protection and support local communities to manage forest resources sustainably.

Panda adoptions are symbolic for donating and supporting our conservation work with pandas. By adopting a panda, you will be supporting a whole group pandas, rather than one individual.

Donations from our adoptions go both directly to support pandas, as well as to fund our wider work to protect nature and our planet.

Your gift recipient will receive an optional toy and welcome pack.

If the welcome pack won't arrive in time for a special event such as a birthday, you can print or email a personalised gift certificate online to give while you’re waiting for the pack to arrive.

Animal adoptions give a huge boost to our work. They not only help fund projects to protect pandas but also fund our other vital work around the world.
