It’s a bold and brave decision, choosing to help our world recover. It requires optimism, determination and willingness to see beyond the doom and gloom. Yes, there’s plenty to be concerned about – but there’s hope too.

Together, we can bring our world back to life.

What makes the Climate Recovery Fund special is that 100% of every pound you donate goes directly towards forward-thinking projects focused on the four areas where we can collectively have the greatest impact:

  • The Amazon
  • Polar regions
  • Forests
  • Influencing UK Government policy

Now’s the time to get involved, because the window for action is getting smaller. And every day we don’t help the climate recover is a day closer to climate disaster. See below how your donation could help and discover some of the incredible work the Climate Recovery Fund has already made possible.

"We can make a real difference"

“I donated to the Climate Recovery Fund because I felt WWF were targeting very specific areas where funding could make a serious and effective impact. If we all chip in to fund targeted action, we can make a real difference and show that real change is possible.”

Restoring UK seagrass

Seagrass is the world’s only flowering plant capable of living in seawater and an incredible ally in the fight against climate change. Globally, seagrass captures carbon up to 35 times faster than tropical rainforests, despite covering less than 0.1% of the seafloor.

How your donations can help

In the Firth of Forth near Edinburgh, Climate Recovery Fund supporters can help bring these incredible underwater meadows back to life, by launching the biggest seagrass restoration project ever undertaken in the UK. These seagrass meadows help to keep our oceans clean and clear, stabilise our coastline, and pull carbon from the atmosphere.

Seagrass is the unsung hero

“Seagrass is the unsung hero of our oceans and can play a major part in tackling climate change as well improving water quality and enhancing biodiversity."

Preventing a tipping point

The Amazon is reaching a tipping point and the impact of this wouldn’t just be felt locally, it would affect the entire world, because the Amazon plays a vital role in regulating the temperature of the planet. If it passes its tipping point, the 1.5⁰C climate target will be impossible to reach.

How your donations can help

Donations to the Climate Recovery Fund can help support collective action to protect the Amazon – and the entire planet. The hope is that by 2030 there will be zero deforestation, no illegal gold mining and we’ll be able to conserve 80% of forests, wetlands and rivers in the Amazon region.

The choice is ours

“If we work together, we can still save the Amazon. If we can maintain a functioning Amazon rainforest, we've got a chance of avoiding dangerous climate change. If we choose this future of deforestation, we can't. It's game over. So, the choice is ours."

Answering Arctic alarm bells

The cryosphere – the Arctic, Antarctic and other frozen places – plays an important role in regulating the Earth’s climate. It reflects the sun’s rays to keep the planet cool. We depend on it – and so do countless species. With ice melting at a rapid pace, we must understand the impact.

How your donations can help

WWF is funding projects tracking polar bears and penguins, gathering data on their behaviour to understand how they're being impacted by climate change. By understanding the impacts of climate change on icy regions and the species that call them home, we can help make sure steps are taken to protect both.

Impact on the Artic sea

In early March 2024, Arctic sea ice reached its fifth-lowest maximum level. Over four decades, 95% of Arctic multi-year sea ice has disappeared.

Working with UK government

WWF is working with UK government to protect the planet – and people too. That means closing the gaps in their climate and net zero policies in ways that reduce emissions without increasing energy costs for the public.

How your donations can help

Donations to the Climate Recovery Fund can help fund our people-centric approach to working with government to explore policies for energy, heat and agriculture that can provide short term benefits for consumers. By working with those in power, we can advocate for people and our planet in ways that make real change happen.
